Privacy policy

This policy explains what funmemo ("funmemo", "we") collects when you use https://www.fun-memo.com, why, and what control you have. The short version: we use your photos only to make your video, we never use them to train AI, and we delete them 30 days after your last edit.

What we collect

• Account data. Your email address (used to sign you in with a magic link and to tell you when a video is ready) and, if you provide it, a name.
• Your content. The photos, captions, messages, names of recipients and music you upload, and the clips and videos we generate from them.
• Purchase data. If you buy a pack, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card. We receive the amount, the items, your email and a billing country or ZIP code for sales tax. We never see or store full card numbers.
• Usage data. Pages visited, buttons clicked, device and browser type, approximate location from your IP address, and the referring site or ad. We use cookies and similar technologies for this (see Cookies below).
• Support messages. Anything you write to us by email or chat.

How we use your photos and videos

• We send your photos to third-party AI video and image models to generate the animations you request. Those providers process the images to produce the clip and are contractually restricted from using them for other purposes. We do not permit training on your content.
• We run automated checks on photos (is a face visible, roughly how old is the person, how many people are in the frame) to order photos and warn you about ones that may not animate well. We do not create or store face templates, face embeddings or any biometric identifier, and we do not use facial recognition to identify people.
• We store photos and generated clips in private storage. Only you (signed in) and our processing systems can access them, through time-limited links.
• Finished videos are kept so you can download and share them. Gift links are unlisted: anyone with the link can watch, so share it only with people you trust.
• We never use your photos or videos in our marketing without your written permission.

Retention and deletion

• Source photos and intermediate clips are deleted automatically 30 days after your last edit to the project.
• Finished videos are kept for 90 days after they were made, or longer if you keep the project active. Download your video to keep it.
• You can delete any photo, project or video yourself at any time from your studio, and you can ask us to delete your account and everything in it by emailing guymargi@gmail.com. We do this within 30 days.
• Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Children

funmemo is for adults (18+). Parents and guardians may upload photos of their own children to make a video for their family. We do not knowingly collect data from children directly, and we never make videos of children publicly searchable.

Who we share data with

• AI model providers (video and image generation, photo checks) to process your photos into clips.
• Infrastructure: hosting, database and file storage in the United States, email delivery, and live chat.
• Payments: Stripe, for checkout, sales tax and refunds.
• Analytics and advertising: Google Analytics and Meta (Facebook) to measure the site and our ads. These receive usage data and a hashed version of your email when you sign up or buy, never your photos. You can opt out using the cookie banner or the link in the footer.
• Law enforcement or others when required by law, or to protect our users and our service.

We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to protect the site, and optional analytics and advertising cookies to understand which pages and ads work. Choose "Only essential" in the banner to turn the optional ones off. Your browser settings can also block cookies, but then sign-in will not work.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including California and other US states, the EU and the UK), you may have the right to access, correct, download or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal data for targeted advertising. Email guymargi@gmail.com and we will respond within the time the law requires, usually a lot faster. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to photos is through short-lived signed links. Sign-in uses one-time email links, so there is no password to leak. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will tell you.

International transfers

Our servers are in the United States. If you use funmemo from elsewhere, your data is transferred to and processed in the US.

Changes

If we make meaningful changes we will update the date above and, for important changes, email account holders.
