Privacy policy

This policy explains what MCG (“funmemo”, “we”) collects when you use https://www.fun-memo.com (the “Service”), why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The short version: we use your photos only to make your video, we never use them to train AI, we do not sell your personal information, and we delete your photos 30 days after your last edit.
1. What we collect and why

We do not collect precise geolocation, government IDs, health, financial account, or biometric information. We do not create or store face templates, face embeddings or any biometric identifier, and we do not use facial recognition to identify people.
2. How we use your photos and videos
- We send your photos to third-party AI video and image models to generate the animations you request. Those providers process the images to produce the clip and are contractually restricted from using them for other purposes. We do not permit training on your content.
- Photos and generated clips are stored in private storage. Only you (signed in) and our processing systems can reach them, through time-limited links.
- Finished videos are kept so you can download and share them. Gift links are unlisted: anyone with the link can watch, so share it only with people you trust.
- We never use your photos or videos in our marketing without your written permission.
- We may look at a specific photo or clip when you ask us for help with it.
3. Retention and deletion
- Source photos and intermediate clips are deleted automatically 30 days after your last edit to the project.
- Finished videos are kept for 90 days after they were made, or longer if you keep the project active. Download your video to keep it.
- You can delete any photo, project or video yourself at any time from your studio, and you can ask us to delete your account and everything in it by emailing hello@fun-memo.com. We do this within 30 days, except records we must keep by law.
- Order and tax records are kept for as long as accounting law requires (typically 7 years).
- Support conversations are kept for 2 years so we can follow up.
4. Children
funmemo is for adults (18+). Parents and guardians may upload photos of their own children to make a video for their family. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 directly, and we never make videos of children publicly searchable. If you believe a child has created an account, email hello@fun-memo.com and we will delete it.
5. Who we share data with
- AI model providers (video and image generation, photo checks) to process your photos into clips.
- Service providers: hosting and content delivery (Vercel), database and file storage (Supabase, United States), email delivery (Resend), live chat (Crisp). They act on our instructions.
- Payments: Stripe, for checkout, sales tax and refunds. Stripe’s own privacy policy applies to the checkout page.
- Sign-in provider: if you use “Continue with Google”, Google processes the sign-in and shares your basic profile (name, email, profile picture) with us under Google’s privacy policy. We use it only to create and identify your account; we never post to, read from or modify your Google account.
- Analytics and advertising: Google Analytics and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) to measure the site and our ads. They receive usage data and, when you sign up or buy, a hashed version of your email so we can measure ad results. They never receive your photos or videos. Under some US state laws this counts as “sharing” for targeted advertising; you can opt out at any time (section 7).
- Legal: authorities or others when required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect our users and our service.
- Business transfers: if funmemo is acquired or merges, your data moves with it under this policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we have not sold it in the past 12 months.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Essential cookies keep you signed in and protect the site. Optional analytics and advertising cookies help us understand which pages and ads work. Choose “Only essential” in the banner or via the link to turn the optional ones off; we also honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal. Blocking all cookies in your browser will stop sign-in from working. Choosing “Only essential” also switches off our own first-party visit counting (the fm_vid, fm_sid and fm_attr cookies below) and clears those cookies.

7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, including California and other US states with privacy laws, the EU, the UK and Canada, you may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy in a portable format.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your personal information (you can also delete photos, projects and videos yourself in your studio).
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising: use the cookie banner, the link in the footer, or the Global Privacy Control signal.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive information for anything other than making your video.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise a right, email hello@fun-memo.com from the address on your account, or write to us at the address below. We may ask you to confirm your email so nobody else can act on your account. You may use an authorized agent; we will ask for proof of authorization. We respond within 45 days (extendable once by 45 days) for California requests, and within one month for EU and UK requests. If we refuse a request you can appeal by replying to our decision, and you can contact your state attorney general or data-protection authority.
EU and UK users: our legal bases are contract (making your video), legitimate interests (security, measuring and improving the service, preventing fraud), consent (optional cookies and marketing email) and legal obligation (tax records). We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers to the United States.
8. Marketing email
We send transactional email (sign-in links, “your video is ready”, receipts, refunds). We send marketing email only if you opted in, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link that works with one click.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to photos is through short-lived signed links. Sign-in uses one-time email links or Google sign-in, so there is no funmemo password to leak. Access to production systems is limited to people who need it and is logged. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
10. International transfers
Our servers are in the United States. If you use funmemo from elsewhere, your data is transferred to and processed in the US under the safeguards described in section 7.
11. Do Not Track
We honor the Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out of sale or sharing. Browser “Do Not Track” signals have no agreed meaning and we do not respond to them separately.
12. Changes
If we make meaningful changes we will update the date above and, for important changes, email account holders before they take effect.
